Gosport Parking Guide: Car Parks, Permits & Stokes Bay
Gosport Borough Council runs 27 car parks across the borough, from the seafront at Stokes Bay to the town centre — including cashless pay-and-display and resident permits. Here's the full picture.
How many car parks does the council run?
Gosport Borough Council operates 27 car parks across the borough. Full details of every one — including opening hours and any restrictions — are listed on the council's Car Parks page, with an individual page for each site.
Parking at Stokes Bay and the seafront
Several council car parks sit right along the seafront at Stokes Bay, making them the obvious choice if you're heading to the beach, Pebble Beach Kiosk, or the promenade:
Pebble Beach Car Park sits at Stokes Bay next to the Sailing Club, and is the main car park for the beach itself. Gilkicker Car Park is a long-stay car park adjacent to Gilkicker Angling Club, at the eastern end of Stokes Bay near Fort Gilkicker. No. 2 Battery East and No. 2 Battery West car parks are also long-stay sites at Stokes Bay. Alverbank West Car Park is on the south side of Stokes Bay Road, east of the Alverbank. Marine Parade Car Park and Beach Road Car Park are the other main seafront options.
Check each car park's own page on the council's parking section for its exact charges, since rates can differ between sites and are reviewed periodically — don't assume the same price applies borough-wide.
Paying for parking
Gosport's car parks accept MiPermit cashless pay-and-stay, alongside coin and card payment at the machines. MiPermit lets you pay by phone or app without needing to return to a ticket machine, and top up your session remotely if you're running over.
Permits
Residents, businesses and motorhome owners can apply for parking permits through the council's Permits page — this covers resident permits for on-street parking as well as the motorhome permit that allows parking in the dedicated motorhome bays at Pebble Beach Car Park (Stokes Bay). Check the current permit prices on that page directly, as they're set and reviewed by the council.
Overnight parking
Gosport Borough Council does not allow vehicles to be slept in overnight in any of its car parks — this applies across the network, including the seafront sites at Stokes Bay.
