Urgent Care in Gosport: The Urgent Treatment Centre
Gosport War Memorial Hospital's Urgent Treatment Centre is open 8am to 10pm every day for minor injuries and illnesses — no appointment or GP registration needed. Here's what it treats and what it doesn't.
Where it is and when it's open
The Gosport Urgent Treatment Centre (formerly known as the Minor Injuries Unit) is based at Gosport War Memorial Hospital, Bury Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 3PW. It's open 8am to 10pm, seven days a week, with on-site X-ray facilities available from 8.30am to 9pm, seven days a week. The phone number is 02382 318022.
How to be seen
You don't need a GP registration or a fixed address to attend, and walk-ins are accepted without an appointment. The NHS recommends contacting 111 (by phone or online at 111.nhs.uk) first where possible, as it can offer guidance and, in some cases, book you a specific attendance time slot rather than leaving you to queue.
What it treats
The Urgent Treatment Centre handles recent minor injuries — fractures, sprains, wounds, cuts, burns and head injuries — and recent minor illnesses, including abdominal pain, fevers in children over one year old, skin infections, and ear, throat, nose, cough and cold complaints, plus allergic reactions.
What it can't treat
It cannot manage conditions needing hospital admission, mental health crises, major or life-threatening injuries, chest pain, breathing difficulties, dental problems, or sexual health concerns. For any of these, staff will redirect you — call 111 for urgent-but-non-emergency guidance, or 999 for a genuine emergency.
